Do work!
I need to start doing p90x again or SOMETHING. I have this itch to buy a gym membership and wake up at like 5 AM a few days a week. I miss the gym but I also can’t justify spending so much money when I could get an almost (probably) better work out just staying at home with p90x or going for a run… Also planning on beginning to run 5K’s to one day lead me to a half-marathon. I...

Soccer Pet Peeves
I wish women were not the less dominant species…yes, I said it. We are. I feel like I’m the last resort in most of my small-sided coed soccer games and it’s quite frustrating. Play the ball to my feet and I can do whatever…send me passes that require me to out-sprint a dude…not going to happen. Grr.

Heart Rate Variability and exercise
A student in my seminar did a presentation on Heart Rate Variability with regard to exercise.  He concluded that exercise does not improve Heart Rate Variability but that Heart Rate Variability improves performance.  People with greater HRV benefit from enhanced training adaptations that include variability of intensity from day to day.  Adjusting training according to heart rate variability...

Just breathe.
I need some words of encouragement right now because I’m about to lose it. I have had to deal with so much BS this morning in sending in paperwork and details upon details about my undergraduate degree all to apply for my Dietetic Internship. So far, in fees, I have had to pay $165 to apply for an internship I am not gauranteed to receieve EVEN THOUGH I am already a current student in the...

What I learned in grad school this week.
It’s been a year of fun and play time but now it’s time to get serious. My first week of graduate school began on Wednesday and it was a doozy! (Not really…) What I learned: I don’t remember anything I learned during my time as an undergraduate at the same university I am attending for graduate school. The “American Dietetic Association” changed their name to...

The Year of Big Moves and No Ideas
2011 has been an eventful year for me. I deem it “The Year of Big Moves and No Ideas”…mainly because after graduating from undergrad and backpacking through Costa Rica for 2 weeks in 2010, I moved to my brother’s couch in NYC, got dumped by my boyfriend, got sick and rejected from jobs (A LOT), got my dream job as a Soccer Coach and another job as a server at an awesome...
